This is very alarming. I use an fantastic tool, Hootsuite to manage my Facebook Pages and my clients’ Facebook Pages. It makes managing 1 or more Facebook Pages, Twitter accounts and other social media platforms very easy but I was recently told that there is proof of third party tools damaging your Facebook numbers (impressions = how many times your Facebook posts are seen ).
I ran a quick test on a new Facebook Page where I posted the exact same post 1 minute apart. One post was sent through Hootsuite and the other post was direct through my Facebook Page. The initial results are a bit alarming. The post sent through Hootsuite had 266 impressions in 20 hours and the post direct through Facebook had 318 impressions. The Hootsuite post had 52 fewer impressions or 16 percent fewer impressions. Now this isn’t definitive proof by any means but I will certainly be running more tests.
I will test to see if the link shortener used by Hootsuite makes any difference. Meaning I will try this same test but post the full URL rather than use Hootsuite’s link shortener since these tend to be less trusted by people, search engines and social media platforms.
Here is a screen shot of my initial test. I will report back after running more test. Please comment below if you have also noticed something similar.

Warning about automated Facebook postings lead to fewer impressions than posting directly to your Facebook Page
